A Simple Song
The caroling of your laughter
Is sweeter than any sonnet
I have heard before this night.
Nothing in our language could describe
The mirthful sound that is
Kindled in the fires of your belly
Exploding into the blazing whiteness
Of your smile.
I could listen to your laughter
All through the night-
Beneath the frequency
Of the cricket's midnight song.
Below the hum of antenna wires
And distant passing cars.
It is the breathing of the night
The music of the stars.

If
Stars, heavens, and never-ending space.
Standing alone looking up at the sky.
Seeing constellations of your beautiful face.
To the stars, if I could only fly.
Lakes, rivers, and the vast ocean.
Standing alone along this stream.
Imagining feeling your love emotion.
Possible, if I could only dream.
Meadows, trees, and colors of falling leaves.
Standing alone with the setting sun.
Hearing your whispering voice in the mellow breeze.
Follow the sound, if I could only run.
Clouds, rain, the sky so blue.
Standing alone free as the birds.
These feelings, and thought are for you.
If, you could only hear my words.

Heavenly Delusion
Softly shifting in the sky above
Creating images by the Angels with love
Inspiring the humanly spiritual souls
With visions of heaven and harps of gold
Such a natural beauty to behold
Of this visual mystery untold
This mystical wonder of the gentle clouds
Has suddenly been resolved by a mind so proud
For these are the shadows of the Angels' wings
As they gloriously meander and gracefully sing
Casting these shadows on Earth's great ceiling
Sending a message of eternal healing
Taking time to observe angelic creation
Nourishes the soul with life's aspiration
When you cast your eyes upon the atmosphere above
Remember this is a reflection of God's great love

(we rarely have 2nd place, but all 4
of these poets deserve to be winners)
Wounded Soul
It lives beneath my skin
Trapped by artificial kindness
It strives on conquering my wounded soul
Let evil heal the open wound grace commited upon me
Never will I expose the sliced flesh of my spirit
Exposure will show the evil my body carries
Relinquish the shattered heart and let me go
My spirit seeps through the fingers of your tightened grasp
They expect too much from me here
It's disturbing to watch them commend my fictitious ways
Don't pressure me or be around
When evil pierces through my skin

Between The Lines
If I could read between the lines
I wonder what I would find?
The cross-connection of boggled minds,
The twisted path that never unwinds.
Torrents, whirlpools,
Troubled waters crashing over rocks;
The secret thoughts -
Secret fears refuse to unlock.
But I can not read between the lines,
Nor see the meaning that lies behind.
Blinded by things that eyes can see,
Facts as simple as facts can be,
Are unknown to a person like me.
Because I am blind -
To the print between the lines.

Moments Of Peace
The leaves are falling from the trees
I hear the whisper of the breeze
Watching waves crash on the shore
I feel that I've been here before
Can smell the ocean in the air
Moments of peace that are so rare
The stars above me just out of reach
Alone I sit on the sandy beach
Memories I hold so dear
Wishing somehow you were here
To sit beside me and to share
Moments of peace, they are so rare
Reflected starlight on the dunes
The sea is calm, there is no moon
Just the rippling of the tide
Of an ocean vast and wide
As I reach out, you are not there
Moments of peace, that are so rare

A MOMENT
a moment with my sweet Adam
gives me hope for another year
as the angels smiles upon us
richly blessed, I have no fear
hold me tightly, I will hold you
let our hearts beat as one,
while you rest in my bosom
waiting for the morning sun
many moons we have watched together
loving as the years passed by
abiding in God's love forever
in his wisdom we can rely
as we run and jump together
in the play grounds of my mind
basking in Gods' earthly blessings,
and his love that's so divine
a moment with my sweet Adam
endowed with strength truth and grace
rising at the brink of morning
my heart smiles when I see your face

What He Loved
On a snow-capped mountain so high
God surely must have heard the pleas
Whispered by our grieving hearts
Asking for a reprieve
Those who mourn the tragic event
Also pray to understand
How a face still alive with warmth
Becomes a shell of this young man
Perhaps if we try harder,
Maybe if we could force our will
A hand would move in reassurance
Or a breath rise from a chest now still
Life continues on, as it must do
They gently lay down your glove
We try to find comfort in the words -
He was doing what he loved

The Journey
A silence fills the darkness of night,
And I am deeply lost within its spell;
The moon casts a solitary light,
To guide me through snow that freshly fell.
Intoxicating beams flicker from homes I view,
And envy rages within me for those I spy;
I breathe the ashen fragrance chimney's spew,
And peek at flames that hearths let fly.
I question if one waits for another's return,
If these fires be alive in warm anticipation?
I would quit this quest if a heart did yearn,
For me to enter such a tranquil habitation.
This is a winsome, warm, and welcome sight,
That beckons my soul to linger in its light;
But the journey continues into a bleak night:
And a solitary shadow drifts on in flight.

A Sunday Stroll
Down the lane
on a sunny day.
Hand in hand
with you I stray.
Trees of green
and colorful flowers.
I could gaze
at them for hours.
A gentle breeze
upon my face.
Flowing gown
all trimmed in lace.
Children playing
as we pass by,
on a Sunday stroll
just you and I.

My World
Hopelessness is not just a feeling,
It's a color:
Gray curtains on the windows,
Blocking out the light.
Anger is not just an emotion,
It's a sound:
Sparrows screaming until
Heads begin to explode.
Fear is not just a barrier,
It's a vision:
An old puzzle that will never be finished
Because one piece is missing.
And Depression is not just a disease,
It's a taste:
Bitter blood on the back of some evil
vampire's teeth, stealing its victims life.

Coffee Cup
Your face is in my mind
but your heartbeat's gone
and memories are all I find...
I take your coffee cup
and drink from it
as though your love
had filled it up...
I wear your favourite shirt
for part of you
is still inside
the part of me that hurts.
I light a candle
just for you
and watch it burn
until your anger's through.

WINNER Jan-20-27th
Cast your eyes up to the skies,
heaven's realm explore.
Then cast them down, unto the ground,
and deepest ocean floor.
All that's up in heaven,
and all that's deep sea green,
and all the things we love so much,
that dwell somewhere between,
God above, with perfect love,
made all that man could need,
and yet, somehow, man made it foul,
with lust and sloth and greed.

"In Search of a Feeling"
Death flashes the air across
Dagger piercing the soul,
Innocense taken from us again
snaps the smoking blow.
Structural life brought to its knees
trees lost their bloom,
Constant echoes across the land
through seas of sonic boom.
Electric drug of eternal life
currents of enormous shock,
Twist and tear an endless path
through homes of quakened rock.
Essence spawned a troubled world
strangled with knotted ropes,
Journeys unasked are thrown upon
washing us asea and drowning our hopes.

Amelia
I see the sun go up at the horizon
I feel a cold wind blow into my face
My heart is heavy and my mind is denying
The fact that you´re gone, away for good
I start to run, run away from disaster
scream out my anger that is burning inside
No other woman could ever replace you
This is the destiny, dessision from above
I had a dream but it was for real
An angel came to me into the night
She gave me a smile and said: "Amelia´s fine"
Words touched my feelings, made me cry
Following morning I went to the churchyard
put flowers on your grave and read a prayer
Our love is forever, I will always love you
This is a lovepoem and I wrote it for you
